The article talks about of many weapons have made. China has developed a system to launch those missiles from trucks. It also says that the missile has the range to hit the north-western United States. It says too that Chinese have more confidence doing this because by creating this advancements in weapons you will see their navy protecting sea lanes and oil supplies from the middle East.America is scared that China & more European contries will have more advanced weapons than them.
The Opium wars & After the Chinese was defeated by the British ; the british still had the power ove Chinas society, the also opened ports of Canton, Amoy, Fushou, Ningbo, and Shanghai, with this they allowed British mercahants to enter their products. They also legalize the opium because the Chinese became more addictive and this bringed China down.
I think that China is now better that they were in the Opium wars because the back then in Opium wars China was poor & it was going down. Chinese people used the drug Opium but now everything seem to change because Chinese are trying to improve. This connects to the article because it shows that China is getting more advanced in technolgy & weapons like doing the missile to improve their navy & protect their land, & today is known as a powerful and a strong country because of their accomplisments after the Opium wars.

Laissez Faire- A type of economy policy that lets the people own businnesses and industries take control of the enviroment
Adam Smith-Defended economic freedom & wrote a book called Wealth of Nations ,in wich he claimed that economic libertty guarranted economic progress.
Capitalism- A type of economic system where money can be invested in order to make profit.
Utilitarianism- The philosophy in wich people were encouraged to judge on ideas & actions ,based on the need for the greater good & usefulness of the ideas and actions.
Socialism: Factors of production are owned by the public
Karl Marx-Philosopher who tought of the idea of radical form of socialism called marxism.
Communism-A form of complete socialism where all the factors of production will be owned by the people .
unions-Voluntary associations where workers joined to express their thoughts.
Collective bargaing-Negotiations between workers & employers ,about raising pays ,better working conditions.
Strike- when negotiations failed workers will refuse to work
First of all Marxistt society believed in interest of the public over the self. In a Marxist economy the people owned the factors of production for the welfare of the society. They believed in creating an equal class ,they believed that goverment run society, there will be better working conditions and eventually economic progress because everyone would be equal . In the other hand Capitalists believed that due to competition and supply and demand policies people could access to cheaper & better and more efficiently made goods, wich ultimately helped both the consumer and the producer, leading to progress in the economy.
3.The main problem for unions were to grant good working conditions and increase the wages of workers to a sufficient level. They negotiated with the employers to get these things done, however sometimes the employes will refuse. This would lead the workers to strike or not work. However this mostly benefited skilled workers that were low numbers. The poor were not lucky. They were unskilled workers and they were plenty of them.Unions were also to promote the idea of women rights and their right to equal pay because during the mid 1800s.
4-I think that economic factors definitevely play a major role in society.I think that this idea is wrong.Economic factors can change the class structure and other social things, However things such as political factors such as the people desire in democracy is far much greater. There have been revolutions due to major economical canges, such eas collapse of the Soviet Union etc.People wanted a economic freedin to the goverment, so even though economic forces do play a major role, it is in the end of what the people want

1)According to Hobbes, why would people want to live under the rule of an absolute monarch?
According to Hobbes, all humans were naturally wicked and selfish; that without a government to keep order, there would be war among man. He stated that in order to escape from life that is solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short, humans gave up their rights to a single, strong ruler. Giving up their rights to their ruler, humans was able to obtained law and order. Hobbes called this agreement between the people and the ruler to create a government, social contract.
1. What important documents reflect the influence of Enlightenment ideas?
The ideas of the Enlightenment has had a major impact on the documents of our time. John Locke's idea of the three natural rights- life, liberty, and property was fundamental to the United States' Declaration of Independence. Voltaire's idea of a freedom of thought and expression as well as Beccaria's abolishment of torture can be seen in the Bill of Rights.
2. In your opinion, which are the two most important Enlightenment ideas? Support your answer with reasons.
In my opinion I think that the two most important Enlightenment ideas is the separation of powers and freedom of thoughts and expression. I think these two enlightenment ideas is the most important because it had the most impact. Separation of impact has impacted France, United States, and Latin America nations in their constitutions. It has helped to balanced the power of each branch in the government to prevent one branch from becoming too powerful. Freedom of thought and expression has given people several rights that are protected by certain documents such as the Bill of Rights.
1. TERMS & NAMES-Identify

• separation of powers- The division of powers among the different branches in a government.
• Jean Jacques Rousseau- A philosophe who believes that a man was born free but this freedom and equality was destroyed because people became civilized.
• Mary Wollstonecraft- A woman that argued that women, like men, needs education to become virtuous and useful.
3. SYNTHESIZING
• “Power should be a check to power.”
This quote was stated by Baron de Montesquieu. The meaning of the quote is that each branch of government will serve as a check for the other branches to prevent any branches from becoming more powerful than the others.
• “Man is born free, and everywhere he is in chains.”
This quote was stated by Jean Jacques Rousseau. The meaning of the quote is that man has lived as free and equal as everyone else. But when man started to become civilized the strongest among the people forced everyone else to abide to unjust laws.
• “Let women share the rights and she will emulate the virtues of men.”
This quote was stated by Mary Wollstonecraft. The meaning of this quote is that if women were to share the same rights as men and get a better education, they too can become as useful and virtuous as men.
